Annapurna is a famous and most visited trekking destination in Nepal. More than 50percent of trekkers travel every year. From Annapurna Base Camp, you stand witness to mountains like Hiunchuli (6,441m), Annapurna (8,091m), Gangapurna (7,455m), Machhapuchhare (6,993m) and others.

I assume that you are already in Nepal so no International Flight cost is and your personal trekking gears are also not included. You can also have a rental trekking gears here in Kathmandu, Pokhara or you can ask your trekking agencies.

How long does it take from Kathmandu to Pokhara?
Bus
— The bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara should take around 6–7 hours, however, we’ve never found this to be true. On average, expect a travel time of at least 8–9 hours due to traffic jams.

Flight — The flights are scheduled from morning to afternoon. · The duration of the flight is 25 minutes.

Most Nepalese Agencies will take their client from Gorephani for sunrise view in Poonhill via Nayapul

Nayapul → Ghorepani → Chhomrong → Dovan → Deurali

→ Machhapuchhre → Annapurna Base Camp

Is it hard to get to Annapurna Base Camp?

With high determination and basic fitness level, one could achieve their dream of being at a base of mighty Annapurna. At the time of trekking, one should walk 6–7 hrs a day.

Prior to trekking be prepared mentally and physically. Aerobic training includes training for your heart, lung, and blood cells. You can go for regular jogging, walking up and down, and cycling. It is also good to have the cardio-training for 2–3 months before the trek.

Cost of Annapurna Base Camp Trek

1. Permit

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit fee for foreigners: 3,000 NPR (Approx. US $30)

Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) permit: 1,000 NPR (Approx. US $10)

Permits and TIMS cards can be purchased in the Nepal Tourism Board Office on Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu.

Permits can also be purchased in Pokhara at the Nepal Tourism Board Service Center in Damside or at the ACAP entry permit counter in Besisahar, Lamjung. TIMS cards can also be purchased from the TAAN Lakeside office in Santi Patan, Pokhara.

2. Travel cost in Route

Price Ranges from 1100–2200 USD according to your accommodation and means of transport.

Flight Cost (Kathmandu to Pokhara) — $240 (2 ways — price may differ)

Bus Cost (Kathmandu to Pokhara) — $10-$25 (depends on the way of transport — local bus)

Hotel Cost in Pokhara — $30 — $50

Drive to Nayapul — $10–$20 (depends on the way of transport)

Private transportation will cost higher

Food (B/L/D) — $20–$60 per day (Please ask for menu)

The accommodation in the Himalayas will normally cost low in Annapurna Region — $10–$15 in sharing basis — for single room cost will be higher

Charging Mobile Phones / Drinking Mineral water — may cost around $30–$60 in the entire trip

Choice -:

Hire Guide: Normally 20–35 USD per day

Porters cum guides come at a daily price of 30–40USD

Porters: 15–25 USD per day

Notes: The price may differ

Trekking during the peak seasons; Autumn (Sep-Oct-Nov) and Spring (March-April-May) will be slightly costlier than Off Season. If you’re trekking in off trekking seasons, a price can drop significantly.

At Annapurna Base camp — Rainfall

Best Season to Trek in Annapurna

Although Annapurna Base Camp can trek throughout the year but we suggest Spring (February to May) and Autumn (October to December) because this season is the best season for trekking.
Nepal receives monsoon rain from June through September, which is not a great time to trek.
Winter is very cold in the upper mountains with heavy snowfall which causes obstructions in the trekking routes.
Trekkers who want to escape an overcrowded season of Autumn and Spring season then Winter and Monsoon Season is perfect for you.

Things to pack while Trekking Annapurna Base Camp

You need to pack light yet sufficient for your trekking days. Unless you pack wisely, it is certain that you will not be able to enjoy your journey in the Himalayas. Since this is a lodge-to-lodge trek, you will be sleeping in small lodges or teahouses during the entire trip. You need to be prepared with the right clothing and equipment as it may get colder at higher elevations especially during the cold months.

Necessary items that should be included in a backpack- Water Purification Tablets, General Medications paracetamol, Imodium, Basic First Aid Kit, Sun-cream, Lip balm, hand sanitizer and any prescribed medicines.

You can also hire a porter for your luggage.
if you do trekking with the agency they will hire mainly the porter cost are already covered.
